The 7th Annual “Summer In The City Youth Talent Exhibition” will open on Saturday, October 8th, 2011 with a reception from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.Child-friendly refreshments will be available, and admission is free. The exhibition will also be also be part of the first-ever “MoHu Regional Arts Week,” occurring throughout the Capital District from October 7th to October 14th.
“Summer In The City” annually celebrates the accomplishments of young people in Arbor Hill and other downtown neighborhoods, showcasing performing arts, multimedia, poetry, cultural knowledge projects, and more created in programs during the preceding summer (and year).Groups participating in this year’s exhibition include: Albany Public Library, Art Partners-Tsehaya & Company, Black Dimensions In Art, Equinox Inc., Grand Street Community Arts, Green Tech Charter High School, Ten Broeck Mansion Summer Archaeology Camp, and Trinity Alliance.
“Summer In The City” is produced by local creative arts organization, Albany Barn, Inc.Albany Barn is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization developing a permanent, sustainable creative arts incubator and community art center in Albany, NY called The Barn/Academy Lofts. Albany Barn also produces and collaborates on local creative arts events and programs at its current home at “Stage 1” (46-48 N. Swan Street).
“Summer In The City” is made possible this year by Stewart’s, with additional support from Subway and Honest Weight Food Co-op.The exhibition will remain on view throughout the month of October.
