Albany Barn, Inc. will present “Size Matters” on Friday, March 1st, 2013, at Stage 1
located at 46-48 North Swan Street. A reception will be held from 5:00pm – 9:00pm in conjunction with the monthly “1st Friday” arts walk in the City of Albany. Refreshments will be served. The exhibition will be on display throughout the month of March. Admission is free.
“Size Matters” features painted works by Capital Region artists Blair Lambert, Andrew McPherson, and Dorothea Osborn in both large and miniature scale, juxtaposing subjects and their relationship to the surrounding world.
Blair Lambert’s uses oils and encaustics to create miniature landscapes and scenes that express a sense of nostalgia and recall. Blair believes that the viewer must get very close to diminutive works and thus the image will fill their field of vision, psychologically pushing the work around the viewer. Blair graduated from Penn State University with degrees in Art Education and Studio Art and attended The Pratt Institute in New York City. She currently lives in Albany,
Andrew McPherson is from Morrisville, NY. He took classes at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute and Syracuse University before relocating to California in 2000. There he earned a BFA at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco and worked as a freelancer and youth arts teacher. In 2009 he was offered a scholarship to Ohio University for his graduate studies. He returned to upstate NY this year to begin his,“cultural takeover of the Capital Region.”
Dorothea Osborn’s utilizes oils and mixed media primarily to create drawings and paintings based on tensions between spirituality and materialism, representation and abstraction. Osborn received an MFA in painting from The State University of New York at New Paltz and taught for 20 years in public schools and at the State University of NY at New Paltz. She shows work nationally.
