Raised in upstate New York, Shannon Straney was inspired to start using her camera to capture the nature of the physical world surrounding her. She began focusing her photography on hunting down candid moments, honing a documentary style that is intriguing and subtle. Her strengths lie in her ability to capture emotion, rawness, and a candidness that isn’t forced. Currently based out of Albany, NY, Shannon balances freelance work with her own projects, keeping a watchful eye for unique visual opportunities. She has been a featured artist in Albany’s First Friday event and her documentary Hellions was screened at the 2014 Knickerbocker Film Festival. Shannon has had her work published by The Alt, She Shreds Magazine, Keep Albany Boring, All Over Albany, the Observer-Dispatch, Impact Magazine, the Times Union, Alternative Press, and the Troy Record.
