Friday, December 7th, 2012, Albany Barn will present “Deck OUT the Halls,” featuring fashions by local designers/artists Jessyka Neitzel and Danielle Breitenbach, at Stage 1, Albany Barn’s storefront art space located at 46 North Swan Street, Albany.
An opening reception will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in conjunction with the monthly “1st Friday” arts walk.
Jessyka Neitzel is a classically trained photographer and graphic designer who strives to display works fashioned from non-traditional materials and processes where it’s least expected: on t-shirts, dresses, scarves, and other ‘wearable’ surfaces that bring the canvas to the city. Neitzel has been involved in Electric City Couture as artist, model, and designer. Most recently she styled Miss Albany and Miss Teen New York for the MoHu Festival Opening Event at the Albany International Airport.
Danielle Breitenbach, a Capital District native, graduated with her BFA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She spent a year in Orlando working as a patternmaker in the costume shop at Walt Disney World and was Assistant Designer/Shop Manager for three-and-a-half years at Chase Tyler Designs/The Workroom NYC in Brooklyn, NY, making costumes and soft goods. Upon returning to the region, Breitenbach opened Sew Breit: Custom Sewing & Design and in 2012, assumed the roles of co-designer for Electric City Couture (with Neitzel) and lead costume designer at Park Playhouse.
Neitzel and Breitenbach collaborated to design a spring collection, VERE FIORE, which combines the softness of flowers and fabric with structure of branches and tailoring while pops of unique colors keep the eye interested and entertained. VERE FIORE designs exhibited at Stage 1 will be available for purchase.
The evening will also feature a musical performance by orchestra students from Arbor Hill Elementary School and Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology led by their instructor, Nan Blaufuss.
Admission is free. Holiday refreshments will be served. The 1st Friday Trolley will provide complimentary transportation to and from Stage 1.
“Deck OUT the Halls” will be on display through the month of December. For additional information and gallery hours, visit www.albanybarn.org
