Capital Walls Mural Pop-Up Party, Weds Oct. 2!
Mural Pop-Up Party to celebrate Albany’s Capital Walls Program, next mural to be unveiled with work starting on October 5

Community partners join to look back on a successful year downtown and preview what’s next

ALBANY – The Albany Center Gallery, Albany Barn and Albany Parking Authority have announced a mural pop-up party in celebration of another successful year for the Capital Walls program. In addition, plans for the next mural will be unveiled. The party will take place at Olde English Pub, on Wednesday, October 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. Details and information on registration can be found here.

The community will honor the works of artists Arzu Fallahi, NDA Street Art, John Breiner and Vanessa Mastronardi, who all contributed their own style to the Capital Walls program this summer. On Olde English Pub’s patio space, DJ IntellHayesfield will be providing entertainment all evening for the crowd. For those who pre-registered for the event, food and drink vouchers will be distributed.

Parking will be available in Quackenbush Garage on Orange Street between Broadway & Water St., and in the overflow lot behind Albany Pump Station on 19 Quackenbush Square.

The pop-up party is sponsored by Discover Albany as they close out their “Day of Discovery” downtown. On top of hosting the community to celebrate Capital Walls, the organization will also be launching their 2020 Visitor’s Guide on Wednesday.

“As we highlight the newly completed murals, we reflect on the stories, history and journeys the artists and community take as we celebrate their vision and passion. We are fortune to live in a city that supports creativity, and our goal is to continue empowering artists and creatives to make a positive difference in the community,” said Tony Iadicicco, Executive Director of the Albany Center Gallery and Curator of Capital Walls.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to close out a Day of Discovery than with a celebration of public art, and the artists who’ve given us eight new gems for residents and visitors alike to discover here in Albany,”  said Kristen Holler, Executive Director of the Albany Barn.

“We continue to be excited about the role we are playing in advancing the vibrant arts scene that Albany has. Not only are we able to celebrate the beautiful and thought-provoking murals that have been added this year, but we’ll be unveiling yet another mural. Together, we are creating new places for people in the community to visit and explore,” said Matt Peter, Executive Director of the Albany Parking Authority.
