Call for Art: Chair Show II @ Nine Pin Cider!

UPDATE: All of the chairs have been claimed.  Thank you for your interest!

Albany Barn & Nine Pin Cider are seeking artists to participate in The Chair Show, a collaborative mixed media art exhibition.

Long before Albany Barn moved into 56 Second Street, the historic building was a school known as St. Joseph’s Academy. Much like the interior of St. Joseph’s was transformed into The Barn, artists are encouraged to use a wide variety of mediums (including paint, sculpture, and mixed media) to transform the vintage wooden school desks, remnants from St. Joseph’s previous life as a school, into unique works of art.

The Chair Show exhibition will be on display at Nine Pin Cider in conjunction with Albany’s First Friday on Friday, April 5th through Sunday April 7th, 2019.

Please review the submission guidelines below and contact with questions.

  • Artists interested in participating must email and include a proposal of the design idea and 1-3 photos of work samples representative of the proposal.
  • Chairs must be picked up by the artists at the Albany Barn (56 Second Street, Albany). Pick-up is available on the following dates: February 4th-9th & 11th-15th  (call 518-935-4858 to confirm pick-up time).
  • Finished chairs are to be returned to The Barn for transport to Nine Pin for the exhibition no later than Saturday, March 30th.
  • All chairs will be auctioned off with a starting bid of $50, with 75% of the final sale price paid out to the artist and 25% paid out to The Barn to benefit youth programming.

All participating artists are strongly encouraged to attend the opening exhibition on Friday, April 5th, where the tasting room hours are 4pm-11pm.
