The Color and The Shape

Albany Barn, Inc. will present “Color of The Mind – Living Walls” on Friday, September 2, 2011, at Stage 1, Albany Barn’s headquarters and community art space located at 46-48 North Swan Street. A reception will be held from 5:00pm – 9:00pm in conjunction with the monthly “1st Friday” arts walk in the City of Albany. Refreshments will be served and the 1st Friday Trolley will provide complimentary transportation to and from the venue. The artwork will be on display throughout the month of September. Admission is free.

‘I am a self taught photographer. Like many photographers, I started taking photographs on a 35mm camera and bought a digital point and shoot when they first came out. I loved the ease of use and instant gratification, but missed the fine details and quality that film offered. The loss of quality forced me back to 35mm until the quality of digital photographs improved.

‘Since first entering the darkroom, I’ve enjoyed the process of creating a photograph as much as taking the shot itself. When creating my own prints, I found photography to be fulfilling in a way that a point-and-shoot could not offer. But it wasn’t until 2008, when I purchased my first digital SLR, that I knew that photography would become a real passion in my life. I was no longer limited by the number of frames I could shoot or the methods available to process my images. I’ve been learning by experimentation ever since.’

B3nson Records, in conjunction with the WEXT, and All Over Albany will hold the second annual Restoration Festival on August 27th and 28 at St Joe’s in Arbor Hill

On Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th from 12:00 pm to10:00 pm, St. Joseph’s Church in Downtown Albany will be a home and a stage for the second annual Restoration Funstival.  We are excited to announce both The Music Tapes & A Hawk and A Hacksaw will be playing at this years festival.

Sense of Place Informs Youth Mural

Albany Barn and The Stakeholders, Inc.’s Arts Ambassador Institute (AAI) Class of 2011 have partnered to create a moveable mural with youth from the Evening Reporting Center (ERC) at Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region. The mural will be unveiled with a reception on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Stage 1, Albany Barn’s headquarters and community art space located at 46-48 North Swan Street in the Arbor Hill neighborhood.
