2018 Exhibition Schedule Announced

Albany Barn is pleased to announce our 2017 exhibition schedule.
To submit your work for consideration please send JPEG or PDF files including image of work, size, medium, and price (if applicable) to gallery@albanybarn.org with the title of the show in the subject line by the submission deadlineUnless otherwise indicated, late submissions will not be considered.

Unless otherwise noted, all calls for art are open to any interested artist with work appropriate to the exhibition theme. All complete submissions received before the submission deadline will be considered, and selected artists will be notified by e-mail within 1 week of the submission deadline. All work selected for exhibition should be delivered in ready to hang/show condition. 

2018 Exhibitions at The Barn (56 Second Street):

February 2-23:  Strangest of the Strange, an exhibition of skate-themed works curated by Albany Barn resident Robert Ciampolillo.  The opening will be held in conjunction with First Friday, with a wrap party featuring vendors, cash bar, and music on February 23, 2018.   Anyone interested in submitting work can contact Robert directly at ciampolillorobert@gmail.com.

 March 2 – April 25: Divine Beings an exhibition of works inspired by of demons and deities curated by Albany Barn resident Tabitha Heisch.  Anyone interested in submitting work can contact Tabitha directly at tabithaheisch@gmail.com.

 March 2: Wildwood Programs Collaborative Art Show- an exhibition of works by participants in Wildwood Programs’ art classes. In addition, Wildwood Programs is seeking community-based artists to create works inspired by their participants, or the work created by their participants. Community artists’ works will be shown alongside Wildwood artists and partial proceeds from art sales will benefit Wildwood Programs’ adult and youth arts programs. Those interested in participating in this process should e-mail casey@albanybarn.org for more information.

 April 6: Out of this World: a pop-up exhibition featuring work inspired by other-worldly beings, including folklore, fantasy, and mythology.  All mediums will be considered.  Please review the Pop-Up guidelines below.  Submissions will be accepted from February 20th-March 17th, 2018.

 April (Date TBA): 7th Annual Building Communities Youth Art Contest & 3nd Annual Educator’s Invitational. Youth in middle and high schools across Albany County will present works inspired by a specific theme (theme TBA) alongside works from arts educators. Submissions from educators of all grade levels, colleges and universities, and private or freelance art instructors will be considered. 

June 1-29: The Other Side, a solo exhibition showcasing work of Albany Barn artist James Paulsen.

 June 1: Above/Below a pop-up exhibition focused on the concept of storytelling through the use of layers, both literally and metaphorically. All mediums will be considered.  Please review the Pop-Up guidelines below.  Submissions will be accepted from April 17th-May 14th, 2018.

 July 6 – August 22: H2O, a solo exhibition showcasing work by Albany Barn resident Megan Ruch.

August 3: The Great Outdoors, a pop-up exhibition highlighting the beauty and brutality of nature.  All mediums will be considered.  Please review the Pop-Up requirements below.  Submissions will be accepted June 13th-July 15th, 2018.

September 7 September 26: 14th annual Summer in the City Youth Talent Exhibition an exhibition of visual and performance art and cultural knowledge projects by youth in Arbor Hill and the City of Albany. All mediums will be considered.  Submissions will be accepted from July 2nd-August 20th, 2018.

October 12 – October 24: #BarnLife Resident & Members Showcase: Residents & member artists may submit work in any medium. Opening reception will take place as part of the 6th annual FUSION anti-gala, October 12, 2018.

November 3 – November 27:  Of Flight & Fracture: a solo exhibition of work by Albany Barn artist Alex Waters.
November 3 – Time Machine:  A pop-up exhibition of works inspired by retro cartoons and pop culture influences of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.  Please review the Pop-Up guidelines below.  Submissions will be accepted from October 1st- 20th, 2018.

December 7 – December 27: 6th annual Gifted Holiday Shop & Artisan Fair an exhibition featuring small works of art, handmade artisan goods, small batch food and beverage, and more. Visual art, handmade goods, and unique resale items will be considered. Vendor booths are also available for this event.  Submissions will be considered from October 15th-November 20th, 2018.

 

Pop-up Art Show

-Pop-up will be one night only (see above dates) from 6-8:30PM.  Attendance is required by any participating artists for the entirety of the Pop-Up.
-Set-up starts at 4:30PM, clean-up is from 8:30-9PM
-Participating artist are provided with one partition (36-inch-wide and 72-inch-long, each partition has 2 panels) and one table to display their work.
-Albany Barn will collect a 25% Commission of any work sold.
-If you need to make special drop-off/ pick-up arrangements, please let us know no later than 1 week prior to the pop-up

During the Pop-up Shows there will be an exhibition on display upstairs; Guests will be encouraged to check out both.
