Albany Barn is pleased to announce our 2016 exhibition schedules for The Barn and Stage 1 galleries. To submit your work for consideration please send JPEG or PDF files including image of work, size, medium, and price (if applicable) to firstname.lastname@example.org by the submission deadline.
Exhibitions at The Barn (56 Second Street):
January 1 – January 28 Food For Thought an exhibition inspired by the simple joys of food and drink.
February 5 – March 25 Activate an exhibition of works inspired by modern day activism and social justice movements. All mediums will be considered, including digital media. Submissions will be accepted January 1 – January 24th.
April 1 – May 27 5th Annual Building Communities Youth Art Contest & 2nd Annual Educator’s Invitational. Youth in middle and high schools across Albany County will present works inspired by this year’s theme “Illuminating Communities” alongside works in all mediums from arts educators. Submissions from educators of all grade levels, colleges and universities, and private or freelance art instructors will be considered. Submissions will be accepted February 6th – March 21st.
June 3 – July 29 Off The Wall an exhibition of graffiti and street art. Original works in graffiti style as well as photos and video of graffiti and street art will be considered. Live demonstrations are also encouraged. Submissions will be accepted April 2 – May 21.
August 5 – August 31 The Works of Stacy Caldwell an exhibition of sculpture, carvings, and painting by artist Stacy Caldwell.
October 7 – November 25th Barn Life/FUSION an exhibition of works by artists in residence at The Barn. Submissions of works in all mediums will be accepted from residential and work studio artists at The Barn from August 1 – September 16.
December 2 – December 28 4th annual Gifted Holiday Shop & Artisan Fair an exhibition featuring small works of art, handmade artisan goods, small batch food and beverage, and more. Visual art, handmade goods, and unique resale items will be considered. Vendor booths are also available for this event. Submissions will be considered October 18 – November 23.
Exhibitions at Stage 1 Gallery (46-48 N. Swan Street):
February 5 – February 26 Wildwood Winter Arts Showcase an exhibition of works by participants in Wildwood Programs’ art classes. In addition, Wildwood Programs is seeking community-based artists to create works inspired by their participants, or the work created by their participants. Community artists’ works will be shown alongside Wildwood artists and partial proceeds from art sales will benefit Wildwood Programs’ adult and youth arts programs. April 1 – May 1 Paperback an exhibition of work in paper, creative writings, and spoken word performances. 2D and 3D works made from paper, performance pieces, and creative writing installations will be considered. Submissions will be accepted January 25 – March 11th.
May 6 – June 15 Child’s Play an exhibition of works inspired by the whimsy, or awkwardness, of childhood. All mediums will be considered, including digital media. Submissions will be accepted March 7 – April 24.
July 1 – August 26 Not Your Mother’s Canvas an exhibition of works on non-traditional canvases. 2D and 3D works created on non-traditional or reclaimed “canvas” will be considered. Submissions will be accepted May 7 – June 19.
August 5 – August 31 New Neighbors an exhibition of photo prints by artist Tim Fealey depicting vacant buildings re-imagined.
September 2 – October 8 12th annual Summer In The City Youth Talent Exhibition and exhibition of visual and performance art and cultural knowledge projects by youth in Arbor Hill and the City of Albany.
November 4 – December 22 Across the Aisle an exhibition of political cartoons. Original illustrations in print and digital format (including short films), and collage or mixed media pieces utilizing political symbolism will be considered. Submissions will be accepted September 5 – October 24.
