What do you buy the person who has everything?! A one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted, locally produced work of art is the perfect gift for the shopper who wants to wow their family and friends, while doing good for their community!
Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, Giving Tuesday is December 3rd, 2013, and in that spirit Albany Barn will be presenting “GIFTED” an exhibition of small works, perfect for your holiday gift giving needs! By purchasing a piece made by a local artist or artisan, you’re not only giving a unique gift your loved-ones can truly admire, but also help further the mission of Albany Barn and help and artist live their dream of moving from ‘starving artist’ to ‘working artist.’
Buying local, as we know, puts money back in our local economy, and buying local art adds so much more: beauty, interest, culture, and opportunity! When you decorate your home, office, or wardrobe with the work of local artists and artisans, you’re increasing the visibility of that artist, and increasing their chances of achieving commercial success! How cool to say you owned an early work of the next Georgia O’Keefe, Mark Twain, Auguste Rodin, or even Michael Kors?!
In addition- you’ll be helping to Raise The Barn, with a portion of all proceeds from “GIFTED” going to support Albany Barn as we open the doors of the transformed St. Joseph’s Academy as “The Barn” featuring 22 low-cost live/work artist lofts, and two-floors over 13,000 square feet of space for artists to work, create, and collaborate!
So support Albany Barn in supporting artists by celebrating #GivingTuesday on December 3rd, then joining us on Friday December 6th from 5-9pm to knock your holiday shopping out of the part at “GIFTED: Small works with big impact!”
Remember to check back every Tuesday between now and #GivingTuesday for more tips on how to give back to arts & culture in the Capital Region!
