A reception will be held from 5:00pm – 9:00pm in conjunction with the monthly “1st Friday” arts walk in the City of Albany. ‘Reflections,’ is the work of notable photographer/designer Craig A. Shufelt.  Craig graduated from RIT in 1996, Sage College of Albany in 1994, and has an extensive background in graphic design.  He has been a member of the Capital District Community since 2002 and is passionate about many types of art photography and abstract woodworking.  His work has previously been exhibited at Justin’s, Art-On-Lark, as well as a variety of Capital Region auto shows and coffeehouses.

“This series of photographs shot from classic automobiles is a test of an idea carried out through imagery. It’s a visual statement showing a piece of them (car owners) and the effort they have put into the vehicle itself,” explains Shufelt. “The autos have been nurtured and cared for to ‘reflect’ the lives of their particular owners.”

Mr. Shufelt shot all photography, with a majority of the photos coming from the lenses of a Canon AE-1 on 35mm film. None of the photographs have been digitally enhanced.

“The Reflections Series” is co-produced by Albany Barn, Inc and the Albany County Historical Association. Albany Barn is a local nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization developing a permanent creative arts incubator and community art center in Albany, NY called The Barn. Albany Barn has partnered with the Albany Housing Authority and the City of Albany to redevelop St. Joseph’s Academy, a long vacant former school building in the Arbor Hill neighborhood, for that purpose. Stage 1 is located one block from St. Joseph’s Academy. The Albany County Historical Association, headquartered at the historic Ten Broeck Mansion in Albany’s Arbor Hill community, is a nonprofit 501(C) 3 organization dedicated to promoting, preserving and presenting the history and culture of Albany County.

“The Reflections Series – Empire State Cars,” will remain on view through April.
