2017 Exhibition Schedule Announced

Albany Barn is pleased to announce our 2017 exhibition schedules for The Barn and Stage 1 galleries. To submit your work for consideration please send JPEG or PDF files including image of work, size, medium, and price (if applicable) to gallery@albanybarn.org with the title of the show in the subject line by the submission deadline. Unless otherwise indicated, late submissions will not be considered.

Unless otherwise noted, all calls for art are open to any interested artist with work appropriate to the exhibition theme. All complete submissions received before the submission deadline will be consider, and selected artists will be notified by e-mail within 1 week of the submission deadline. All work selected for exhibition should be delivered in ready to hang/show condition. 

Exhibitions at The Barn (56 Second Street):

January 6 – January 30 #AlbanyForArt  an exhibition of works inspired by Albany’s vibrant arts scene including video and photography of performances, installations, and arts events, graphic designs used to promote local art, original costumes, props, or scenery created for local productions. Submissions will accepted December 1 – December 23, 2016

February 3 – February 27 Paula Frazell Solo exhibition 

March 3 – March 27 Wildwood Arts Showcase an exhibition of works by participants in Wildwood Programs’ art classes. In addition, Wildwood Programs is seeking community-based artists to create works inspired by their participants, or the work created by their participants. Community artists’ works will be shown alongside Wildwood artists and partial proceeds from art sales will benefit Wildwood Programs’ adult and youth arts programs. April 7 – April 28 6th Annual Building Communities Youth Art Contest & 2nd Annual Educator’s Invitational. Youth in middle and high schools across Albany County will present works inspired by this year’s theme “Friends” alongside works in all mediums from arts educators. Submissions from educators of all grade levels, colleges and universities, and private or freelance art instructors will be considered.   Submissions will be accepted February 6th – March 24th.

May 5 – May 29 Photo Show an exhibition of photography showing movement in all forms. Photos depicting physical movement, as well as those depicting social movements are encouraged. Submissions will be accepted April 1 – April 24

June 2 – July 28 Gender an exhibition featuring works inspired by gender, personal identity, and sexuality. All mediums will be considered. Opening reception will take place in conjunction with Capital P.R.I.D.E. celebrations.  Submissions will be accepted April 26 – May 26

August 4 – August 28 Printmakers’ show. Submissions will be accepted June 6 – July 21

September 1 – September 25 Hard and Soft: an exhibition of sculptural work. Appropriate submissions should be sculptural and evoke hard/softness through materials used, shape, or subject matter. Submissions will be accepted July 23 – August 21

October 6 – October 27 #BarnLife Members Showcase: member artists may submit work in any medium. Opening reception will take place as part of the 6th annual FUSION anti-gala, October 13, 2017.

November 3 – November 27 Remixed: an exhibition of collages and assemblages. Submissions will be accepted October 1 – October 22

December 1 – December 29 5th annual Gifted Holiday Shop & Artisan Fair an exhibition featuring small works of art, handmade artisan goods, small batch food and beverage, and more. Visual art, handmade goods, and unique resale items will be considered. Vendor booths are also available for this event. Submissions will be considered October 18 – November 20.

Exhibitions at Stage 1 Gallery (46-48 N. Swan Street):

January 6 – March 17 In Style: An exhibition of wearable art. Appropriate submissions include handmade garments and accessories, screen printed wearable items, and re-purposed clothing and accessories. Submissions will be accepted November 20 – December 23, 2016

April 7 – July 21 TBA

August 4 – September 25 13th annual Summer In the City Youth Talent Exhibition an exhibition of visual and performance art and cultural knowledge projects by youth in Arbor Hill and the City of Albany.

October 6 – December 22 TBA
